• Seeking The Kingdom of God

Today’s food truck numbers were down.  The help was great.  The truck ran like it was brand new.  The kids were fun.  It was a really good day!!!

Why do we put so much emphasis on the numbers?

When Jesus was investing in his disciples, he didn’t worry about numbers.  It was all about the hearts of the few, not the many. Jesus cared about the many but most didn’t care about Jesus.

The kids we saw today were the important ones.  The people you helped today were the right ones.  What if your prayer for your co-worker was like food to a beggar?

When your work is to do God’s work (while you’re doing your own), God’s Kingdom will flourish around you and your faith will bloom with new life.

Our work is to plant.  God’s work is to bring a harvest.

  • How Far God Has Brought Us!

    In May 2017, we wrote:

We’re not just feeding kids; we’re changing families through a mobile food truck!!

Jesus told a parable in Matthew 25 about feeding the hungry and serving the thirsty. He said, “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

We NOW OWN a food truck! (May 18, 2017) FAC is gearing up for Summer Impact feeding kids.

It’s been amazing.  In just 14 days God provided over $17,500 to buy a food truck.  This summer we are taking food to kids in our neighborhoods through our partnership with Wake County.  They will provide as much food as we can give to students in ‘identified’ areas. Thank you for praying. Thank you for giving.  This has been an exciting, faith-building adventure and I have a feeling we are just getting started!

    Our next steps:

    1. 1.  Repaint food truck
    2. 2.  Small repairs to make the truck easier to drive
    3. 3.  Build a team to oversee the summer food ministry (leader, co-leader, drivers, story tellers, activity directors, etc.)
    4. 4.  Secure agreements with people of peace in neighborhoods with needs
    5. 5.  Deliver food to kids through the summer!!!!!

First Alliance Church seeks to be a loving, grace-filled, community that follows Jesus.

It is NOW the end of July!!!

We can see the end of the road… August 19th.  We’re praying for wisdom for our next steps.  God has good plans for us.  We don’t need to be afraid to step out.  We hope you’ll consider joining us making an ongoing impact in the lives of people in our church’s neighborhood!

It’s been an awesome summer filled with team work, sweat, a few tears and over 1500 meals so far (July 26th).

  • Count Down to #FACFoodTruck

This is getting real!!!   The graphics are gone!  The truck still looks more like Big Bird with his big yellow body but we’re getting ready to see some real progress.  I’m not going to lie, there have been ups and downs.

We have selected 4 locations in 4 local neighborhoods on Buffaloe Road.  3 are finalized and 1 needs some work.

It’s been powerful to see God provide the gifts, sacrificially given, to secure this vehicle.  Each week we are seeing God’s provision, his grace to open doors and his strength to keep us going.  Philippians 4:19 reminds us that God will supply our needs & Phil. 1:9 says that He who began a good work in us will complete it.  There’s much to celebrate!!!

Just yesterday we received word that our painters will be starting on the truck on Monday, June 5th.  Thank you shout out to Capital Chevy on Capital Blvd.  They will be painting the truck white and making it look good for 10% over cost.  We are SO thankful!

We also had a training meeting with our sponsor yesterday (June 1) and were encouraged to keep pressing forward.

We ALSO got word of a 5th neighborhood that wants us to come and serve their kids.  One of our church members has a contact there.  We don’t have quite enough help to add a 5th site.  It would be fun though.  There are about 45 kids there.  Will see what God wants us to do.

Please be praying for this important initiative.  We are blessing kids and their families with food and support this summer.  God came in person and we are to do no less.  God is working ahead of us.  He is reaching into these neighborhoods, preparing opportunities for us to share Jesus’ story.
